It's our 6th day at the farm and we are taking it easy. I made my trip to the MiniMarket, which is about a 10 minute drive from the farm. I was a little worried because it was 11:30 a.m. and it's frequently closed, particularly mid-day. There was a young girl standing outside the door, which was locked tight. She said something to me in Italian after I peered through the glass to see if there was anything posted about re-opening time. I guessed that she was telling me that the lovely lady would be there soon. So I waited too. After about 10 minutes, she appeared, stepping down out of a doorway several buildings down from her market. I think she was getting her hair done because it was perfectly styled on this hot, humid day and it was a new, bright shade of maroon. She smiled in recognition, said a few things (?) to which I replied, "Buongiorno!" and unlocked her market. I bought more pears, apples, bread (a different shape today), prosciutto, and more of the "local" ham. I'm going to miss this ritual.

Quinn made a new friend and they have been inseparable. Her name is Angelina and she speaks only German. But they chatter away to each other, in their respective languages, all day long anyway. Today they hatched a new project which has taken most of the morning - snail hunting, snail sorting, snail transporting, watering the snails ….. (you get the idea)
Quinn & Angelina
They collected about 40 of these guys
Otherwise, the girls have wandered around the farm today, circulating from the barn to the pool, petting horses and dogs & puppies along the way.
The girls are scheduled for riding lessons at 5:00 with Julie, the British riding instructor here.
And the Pasta Party is tonight.
